Here is an article I wrote for Malaysia's New Straits Times in 2000
It took me an hour to write it. Mostly unedited by the paper before publish in the following day. I remembered teh Star newspaper wanted me to pay to publish. Bollocks my writing itself will draw readers.

New year's resolutions again. A start of the new year, embarrassedly January's come and flew past before I blinked an eyelid.
February it is now and since I'm ethnic Chinese, doesn't hurt that I respect the lunar new year. So happy new year all.
Another new comer to the family has joined on the 2nd day of Singapore's Jubilee year #SG50.
The biggest investment in my life. A postcode to call my own finally
A new career posting.
Will be moving down to a more operational focused role and getting back in touch with customers finally. This is where I feel I'm actually contributing. Real actions, real results, clock ticking.
Also personal growth. A small team to lead. 4 in fact with another one in the works. The operations are never smoother. A commercially sensitive team. A robust and headstrong manager in the lines. Long serving experienced team members manning other aspects. Looks to me a growth year.
I'm leaving a post that I never intended to stay in very long. One more month to go where I can forego all the "talking". The "bloated" feeling of being in a redundant function to the actual business will soon see an end. Do we really need to build the theoretical United States of Europe here in in Asia? Worse, the U.S.E. is headed by a 2nd tier tribe, more content to farm their vineyards and curdle their milk. France being a 2nd rate European country is not originating from me. I'm in the middle of reading Lee Kuan Yew's "One Man's View of the World"
Next week, just one day in office before CNY. Sure it will be quite as a tomb.
